taste of asia ... prepare to be hungry
This is the main reason why I wanted to start a cooking website. In 2010 I moved to West LA with Snoopy and while there were many choices for amazing Korean food (thanks K-town!), there was sadly a lack of Taiwanese/Chinese food. I was so excited when I google-mapped 99 ranch (Chinese supermarket in California) and a pinpoint showed up just a few miles away, but when we arrived it was "Ranchero Market" a Hispanic supermarket #fail.
So there in lies my need to start cooking. I mean I always knew the basics - I had always helped my step mom in the kitchen but my gawd the lady was no cook ( Sorry mom <3 You!). In our household it was always blanched veggies with some soy sauce paste or very bland (albeit healthy) food. So it was my quest to truly try and master Taiwanese/Chinese cooking. Luckily for me I had a very willing guinea pig and constructive critic aka Snoopy. While a lot was trial and error, most of the time it actually turned out pretty good and on point. From then on it was fine tuning and expanding to other Asian cuisines : Japanese, Korean to Thai and Vietnamese.
Obviously when I started this website I wanted to do all the different cuisine but then I realized "Wow I have to actually measure things out because people might have to follow my instructions." Usually I just do it by taste but now I have to stop and write down exactly how much of each ingredient that I added. For that reason, it took me way longer than I ever thought to write down each recipe. This is just a start and my list of dishes I want to share just keeps getting longer - so stay tune and follow me @cooksinheels on Instagram for when new recipes are posted.
